About
Vision:
An equitable world where every human is heard, included, and valued.
Mission:
To centre people facing systemic barriers by amplifying their stories and celebrating their humanity.
WHO WE CENTRE
We centre and celebrate people who have experienced systemic barriers due to their race, colour, gender, sexuality, and/or ability. We know it is these people who have been historically underrepresented or misrepresented. We want to be the platform where they are the main characters.
We centre and celebrate emerging creatives because we believe in the impact and importance of art. You don’t need to be a professional making art for a living, or even have that as your goal; a passion for creating is our favourite energy.
We centre and celebrate day-to-day change agents because we believe in the power that we all have to make the world a better place. You don’t need to have a prominent list of accomplishments; a passion for doing the work is one we vibe with.
Sometimes you might see us use the acronym BIPGM. This stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of the Global Majority. We feel that PGM is more inclusive than ‘people of colour’ as it de-centres whiteness. Read more about this here. While we will always try to be specific with our language, there are some instances when we may use BIPGM as an umbrella term.
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE
Storytelling
Amplifying stories is part of our DNA and we often do this through film and writing. But our focus is on the storyteller: how they choose to express themselves, their stories, and their unique contributions to the world.
Events
If it involves coming together in community, we are on board. We strive to hold events with who we centre at its core and as its audience.
Individual support
Hearing and telling someone’s story is just one aspect of the journey. We aim to provide support, financial or otherwise: purchasing equipment that will assist you in personal or professional development, helping with a significant milestone, or sharing connections.
